      FAQs

      What is embroidery?

Embroidery is the process of stitching a design (commonly an image or a logo) directly onto fabric using specialised machines and thread. It’s commonly used to personalise clothing or fabric items in a way that is long-lasting and looks timeless.

Some common types of embroidery we offer include:

      • Thread embroidery for decorative stitching and detailing
      • Logo embroidery for businesses, clubs, and teams
      • Personalised embroidery for gifts and special occasions

Depending on your design, we will confirm with you the best style of embroidery to get your desired look.

Monogramming is a type of embroidery that involves stitching a person’s initials onto fabric. It’s commonly used to personalise clothing and fabric items in a way that feels neat and timeless.

Common items we add monograms to are:

      • Scarves
      • Shirts
      • Jackets
      • Pillows
      • Robes

Often, our customers choose to add monogramming while their item is already in store for alterations.

While both are common ways to add a design to fabric, embroidery has some key advantages over screen printing. Printing is prone to fading or cracking, which can start to look less polished after just a few washes.

Embroidery, on the other hand, is stitched directly into the fabric. When done professionally, it’s designed to last the life of your garment and look as good on your 200th wear as it did on your first. This technique is often considered the better option when you want a more premium look or are working with thicker or textured fabrics.

At this stage, our embroidery services are only available at selected stores in Western Australia, Queensland, and Tasmania, as well as Palmerston North in New Zealand. We recommend checking our services map to find the nearest store to you.

Embroidery works well on most materials, including cotton, linen, denim, fleece, and blended fabrics. We also find that thicker or more structured materials tend to hold embroidery best. When you visit our store, our team will be able to confirm whether your specific fabric is suitable.

Our turnaround times can vary depending on your chosen design and the store. When we give you your quote, we will also let you know the expected timeframe for your embroidery.

Yes, most customers bring their own items in for embroidery. We can confirm whether your piece is suitable for embroidery when you contact us for a quote or visit us in store.

Embroidery is stitched directly into the fabric and is considered permanent. In most cases, it cannot be removed without leaving marks or damage. However, in some cases, we may be able to replace it with another embroidery design if it covers the area where the previous design was.

Embroidery may be able to cover small holes or worn areas, depending on the fabric, size, and placement. Our team can assess the item and let you know whether embroidery is a suitable option. We also offer invisible mending for small tears or holes.
